Madhya Pradesh Voluntary Health Association (MPVHA)

Madhya Pradesh Voluntary Health Association (MPVHA) is one of the largest health & developmental network of NGOs in the state. It came in existence in 1973, to meet the health needs of the people and to enhance their role in health promotion and development. MPVHA strives to fulfil its vision of “Holistic Health and Health a Reality for All” by ensuring active participation and involvement of people of the state.

In its 51 year – long journey, it took up several challenges to strengthen the voluntary health movement and to promote community health in the state. From health to community health, community health to women’s health, women’s health to women’s rights, whatever terms used from time to time, the focus always remained over women, adolescents and children, with special emphasis on weaker, marginalized & vulnerable section of the society.

MPVHA efforts are widespread and at deeper levels, known to be moderately modernized and technologically advanced and always meant to purify the vibration of all those, who believe in community health promotion. One can experience greater opportunities, higher quality, relationships, greater experience and insight, enhancing creativity, intuition and extra sensorial perceptions.  The direct benefit however, is that of enhancement in capacity, skill and in creation of a people oriented health and development movement.

MPVHA is registered as a secular, non-political and non-profit making organization, under Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered under Section 12-A and 80-G of Income Tax Act, EPF, TDS and Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). TDS and Professional Tax are deducted as per the Income Tax Rules. It is also registered under “NITI Aayog” – Darpan Portal of the Government of India.

It has its presence in almost all the districts of Madhya Pradesh state through its large network of member organizations (including community and rural development organizations, women organizations, hospitals, dispensaries and health centres) and also through various projects being implemented in different geographical areas of Madhya Pradesh.

The main office of MPVHA is located at Indore and the Project Offices are located in different project areas. Offices are well equipped with basic amenities required to run it in a professional manner.

The organization is governed by a nine member team, elected by the General House of MPVHA, known as the Governing Board of the Association. The Governing Board is assisted by two committees, i.e., Program Advisory and a Finance Committee. The Governing Board of MPVHA meets from time to time, to review, suggest new changes, steer the activities and to take policy decisions, in order to achieve the desired goal of the Association. The Executive Director of MPVHA is the Chief Executive, responsible for execution of all the affairs and activities, including day-to-day administration. He is also an Ex-officio member of the Governing Board and one of the signatories for bank operations.

MPVHA’s team includes a wide range of professionals, such as Medical Doctors, Social Workers, Trainers, Finance and Accounts personnel and Administrative staff. The organization has multicultural setting, in which staff members belonging to varied fields and expertise, are rendering their services (full as well as part-time). The organization has a well-defined HR Policy/Staff Service Rules and Finance Policy further support by PACS safe guarding and policies. The staff working in MPVHA has a long experience varying from 2 to 30 years, in the fields of health and development.

Areas of Expertise

Training and Capacity Building

It is one of the core areas of the organization. MPVHA is involved in building capacity of top, middle and front-line functionaries of voluntary and Government organizations on health, development and enforcement of laws.

Liaison and Networking

Having been one of the largest health and development network in the state, conscious efforts are being made towards strengthening its network, by involving like minded groups, health and non-health organizations, individuals and other important national and international agencies working in health and development sectors.

Facilitation & Campaign on Important issues

It has been an integral approach in its four decades of health promotion, for making people more observant and conscious towards their health needs and rights.

Community Mobilization

This is a continuous process in which MPVHA is involved through member organizations and its innovative projects.

MPVHA conduct research and other studies in various fields of health.

This has also been included to abridge the gap between service seekers and providers and  cater the needs of poorly served areas.

Information Dissemination

Large number of need-based publications like newsletters, booklets, books, posters, stickers, audio-visuals have been produced, which are acknowledged and procured by both the Government departments as well civil societies. Latest technologies have been integrated for dissemination of information.
